The weekly chart above shows cumulative foreign investments in SET. The money is still flowing out of SET as long as they believe that there will be no election soon. Would we see the new low? How long could the Thai funds hold the market? The answers are blowing in the wind.

No election, no foreign investments. The charts never lie.


The above weekly chart records cumulative foreign investments in SET since the "Shut Down Bangkok" until now. We can divide this chart in 3 zones. The left most part was the rush of fund flow out of SET from the Shut Down Bangkok through the 2014 coup d'état to the end of 2015. The cumulative investment level was under 50 week simple moving average. With hope of promised election, the fund flow rushed back into the markets in 2016. The right most part of the chart from the last quarter of 2016 until now shows that the fund flow ranged sideway and finally fell back under the 50 week simple moving average line. Since the last quarter of 2017, we have already seen the "lower highs and lower lows" pattern which signified the onset of new down trend of foreign fund flow. It is clear that the foreign funds do not believe that the election will happen in the near future.

Cumulative foreign investment in SET since February 2016.


Cumulative foreign investment had been in a rally during February to October 2016 followed by a correction. From the above chart, this correction had been done to the level near 50%. As of now (20170425) it rebounds up to around 38% level. Will it continue to 62% ? Time will tell.
